3 Way - Argentina 17/50

It has been 20 days since these two teams met on the opening day of the Copa America. Argentina fielded a full strength side with Lionel Messi & Julian Alvarez leading the front line and Mac Allister & Di Maria in support. For a team that has so many star players at their disposal, it took them quite some time to find the back of the net, with the first half being so muted. Despite the muted first half, Argentina enjoyed a majority of the posession with 64% of the ball possession. Argentina have also created 9 big chances, and 19 shots at goal in total. They out played Canada on all fronts and a lot of that was down to how they moved the ball around the park. Argentina has 604 passes on the day versus Canada's 327 passes.

When it comes to form, Argentina have been flawless the entire tournament, winning every match they have played in the group stages. They hit a hiccup in their previous game, with Ecuador equalising in the 91st minute of the match. Dragging Argentina into extra time and possibly exposing some weaknesses in Argentina that Canada could learn from when approaching this match. However, Argentina have not suffered defeat in their last nine matches in a row. The last time they tasted defeat, was when they played Uruguay in the World Cup Qualifiers, CONMEBOL. That was way back in November of 2023.

Canada themselves, have had a bumpy ride to this point of the competition. They played out to a draw against Chile in their final group stage match and won on penalties against Venezuela. Although Canada opened the scoring against Venezuela, they conceded a goal in the second half that sent them to extra-time and subsequently to penalties. On paper they have no loses in their last three matches, however, they have a single win in their last three matches.

These two sides have met once before, in an international friendly game that ended 5-0 in favour of Argentina. Even history does not look kindly on Canada's chances of winning this one.
