Denmark vs Norway Prediction: Draw expect between Hojlund and Haaland
Denmark will complete their preparations for Euro 2024 this Saturday, as they host Norway before heading to Germany. Erling Haaland’s Norway side will not be at this summer’s tournament, and they are major absentees who will have to improve sharpish to get to the World Cup in 2026.
Below you can find my Denmark vs Norway prediction, as we edge ever closer to the start of Euro 2024.
Team News
Christian Eriksen scored an emotional winning goal against Sweden and if he plays here, he will surpass Peter Schmeichel and become the second-highest capped Denmark player of all-time, with 130. Simon Kjaer is now on 131, but is likely to start here along with Andreas Christensen, after Joachim Andersen came off at half-time in midweek.
Julian Ryerson for Norway should start after he returned to the squad after the Champions League final, having missed the game against Kosovo. Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick in midweek, and is now just three goals behind Norway’s record goalscorer Jorgen Juve, at the age of 23! He might not break the record this weekend, but by the end of the record, expect Haaland to be his country’s top goalscorer.
Denmark are the favourites here, priced at 10/9 to win, while Norway are available at 11/5. A draw can be backed at 12/5, over 2.5 goals is 87/100 and BTTS is 73/100.
Draw @ 12/5
I think Norway will provide a really tough test for Denmark, and in my eyes these two are pretty well matched. Denmark have the experience, and will surely do well at Euro 2024, but Norway have a special group of players right now, who just need to perform in qualifying to secure their place at a major tournament.
With Haaland, Martin Odegaard, Leo Ostigard and Oscar Bobb, they have a group of players who should stick around for the next few years, and with arguably the best striker in the world, they are always going to pose a threat. However, Denmark are a solid international outfit and with home advantage should be able to hold their own. I think the best value lies in backing a draw here.
Denmark 1-1 Norway @ 5/1
I think both teams will score at the Brondby Stadium on Saturday, and given I think it will also be a draw, the most logical next step is backing the correct score. Norway are likely to find the net with all of their attacking talent, while Denmark also have a squad that is going to be tough to beat.
Rasmus Højlund and Jonas Wind are likely to start up front, with Eriksen in behind. Kasper Schmeichel is likely to come in to play in goal, and Denmark should be able to avoid defeat here. I think we will see a tight and competitive game here, so I’m backing the 1-1 draw at 5/1.
