Man United vs Newcastle United Predictions: Storm is over
Manchester United’s strange old season continues on Wednesday night as they host Newcastle United at Old Trafford. With more rain expected in the north of England, we could see the leaks in the stadium, and in United’s defence exposed once again as Newcastle come to town.
Here are few marketings to consider adding to your betslip...
Man United vs Newcastle United Betting Tips
Eddie Howe’s men are currently in sixth position and will be desperate to secure Europa League qualification after their top four finish last season. Injuries have played a part this year for the Geordies, but they will look to take all three points away from a United side who have now lost their last two matches. Below you can find my Man United vs Newcastle Prediction & Tips.
Team News
Mason Mount has suffered another setback in his recovery, while Raphael Varane has announced he will leave the club at the end of the season. He will want to play again at some point before departing, while Lisandro Martinez is back available in a big boost for Erik Ten Hag. Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes are both getting closer to a return, but could be saved for the FA Cup final.
Meanwhile, Newcastle’s injury issues have been slightly relieved as Joelinton, Kieran Trippier and Harvey Barnes all come off the bench last time out. However, Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak are both currently ill and may not feature, while Nick Pope is getting closer to making his return from injury.
Man United vs Newcastle Match Odds
Manchester United are priced at 7/4 to win this game, giving them a win probability of 41%. Meanwhile, Newcastle can be backed at 13/10 and a draw is available at 3/1. Goals are on the cards, with BTTS 8/25 and over 2.5 goals 33/100.
Newcastle to win @ 13/10
I don’t rate Man United very highly at all this season. All their pre-season promise has faded away and although players are returning from injury for the Cup final, they are in dismal form. Ten Hag tried something slightly different against Arsenal, but they still didn’t really land a blow on a side who were happy to defend their one-goal lead.
Newcastle still have something to play for, and despite injuries and illnesses, should be able to field a very competitive team. They won here in the Carabao Cup in November and I think we could see another impressive display from this Newcastle side who have the ability to produce the goods. United could face a long evening once again.
Over 4.5 goals @ 9/5
One thing I am hopeful for is an entertaining game, with goals at both ends. Both of these teams love to attack and there is a lot of attacking quality on show. I’d keep an eye on the teamsheet, and then if Isak, Wilson, Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo all feature at some stage, we should see plenty of goalmouth action.
United have a weak midfield which should allow Newcastle to score, but their wide players are incredibly talented. Amad in particular should be given more gametime before the end of the season, and he is so exciting to watch. He should be able to create goals, and I think we could be in for a thriller on Wednesday night.
