Royal AM vs Cape Town City Prediction: It’s show time

Last season we saw the best of Cape Town City. They finished the season in the top six, and earned a spot in the MTN 8. Royal AM, had a disappointing campaign. They finished 13th, 3 points above Richards Bay who had to play in the relegation play off. It is a new season, and both these teams would like to make the most of this campaign. The big day has come, it is show time.

Fifa has banned Royal AM from signing players due to unpaid salaries to Serbian Striker Samir Nurkovic. In addition to that, they received a second ban in 12 months after Ricardo Nascimento reported the club owed him monies. Royal AM failed to honour their two DSTV Diski Challenge matches so far this season due to their failure to register new players. The bans have already started to take their toll on the club.

There is a lot of excitement around Cape Town City and what they have put together for this season. They have a good squad and players who are eager to prove themselves. Cape Town City assistant coach Lebo Manyama has stated "having a good squad on paper does not count for much, because football is played on the grass and they will approach the season humble and ready"

Cape Town City started their season in the MTN 8 with one win, one loss and one draw. They faced Sekhukhune United, and Orlando Pirates twice in the span of those three games. Against Sekhukhune, they managed the game well and preserved their lead superbly. Their two matches against Orlando Pirates produced a Draw and a loss. In the second leg, the wheels came off for Cape Town City as they struggle to manage the pace of Mofekeng and Saleng.

With all of the drama surrounding Royal Am at the moment, it is difficult to imagine them fielding a side capable of beating Cape Town City. A win for Cape Town City looks to be the most likely outcome.
