South Africa is one of only two COSAFA member countries to have won the CAF Africa Cup of Nations. The other team being Zambia, but what can you expect from Bafana Bafana this time around? They last won this trophy in 2021 and since than they have showed glimpses of a team that is capable of lifting international trophies and qualifying for the World Cup.

Mozambique are yet to lay claim to a title on the international stage. They have come close a few times in the past but they were never able to secure the trophy. They had a run of two semi-finals in a row but no wins between 2021 and 2022. They will want to start this campaign on a high when they take on Bafana Bafana on Wednesday evening.

Here are a few markets to consider adding to your betslip...

3 Way - South Africa 55/47

South Africa have won the Cosafa Cup on five occasions since 1997, with their latest win coming in 2021. They start their campaign this time around against a Mozambique side that is looking to reach the heights they reached in 2021 and 2022. In both those campaigns they made it to the finals but failed to progress. Since the start of this competition, these two sides have met on five occasions. South Africa have won three, lost one and there has been one draw between these two sides. It is no surprise that plenty of Bafana fans will be backing South Africa to win this match.

You shouldn't be so quick to back the boys from Southern tip of Africa though, because their neighbours to the west have been on a rise since their 2023 Cosafa Cup participation. They have impressed in the World Cup qualifiers with Mozambique securing nine points in four games to secure a solid position in second place ahead of Botswana, Guinea, Uganda and Somalia. They only loss in the group came to Algeria at home. Their current form is also looking good with just two losses in their last seven matches and back to back wins in their last two matches. South Africa have one loss in their last seven matches and have not lost a match in their last five outings.

In all competitions, South Africa has won five out of their last seven matches against Mozambique, only tasting defeat on one occasion. South Africa have also scored 17 goals, with Mozambique finding the back of the net eight times. South Africa are also in superb goal scoring form, they have scored at least one goal in each of their last eight matches. With everything considered, South Africa will edge this one and there will be plenty of goals.
