Spain take on France in Munich on Tuesday night for a place in the Euro 2024 final. Luis de la Fuente’s men have been the team of the tournament so far, and were impressive as they knocked out the hosts Germany in the last minute of extra-time. That quarter-final was a thrill a minute, whereas France continued their turgid progress through this tournament with a penalty shootout success over Portugal.

Below you can find my Spain vs France prediction, featuring team news and match odds.

Spain vs France Betting Tips

  • Spain to win @ 8/5
  • Spain -2 @ 14/1

Team News

Spain have some issues when it comes to team selection. Dani Carvajal and Robin Le Normand, two mainstays of the defence so far are both suspended, while Pedri is out of the tournament after suffering from a medial collateral ligament knee sprain.

It means changes are necessary, with Nacho and Jesus Navas the most likely replacements in the back four. Meanwhile, Dani Olmo impressed off the bench against Germany and should be given a start in place of Pedro. Alvaro Morata is available after some confusion over a yellow card, and he will play in the front three with Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams.

Didier Deschamps’ side have no players suspended and they do have a fully fit squad - but only on paper. It has been plain to see that the broken nose is clearly affecting Kylian Mbappe, and he was withdrawn before the penalty shootout against Portugal. Given he is their number one taker, that was a surprise, and he could well be left on the bench if he cannot perform to his best. Adrien Rabiot returns from a one-match ban and could start ahead of Eduardo Camavinga.

Spain predicted starting XI:
Simon; Navas, Nacho, Laporte, Cucurella; Olmo, Rodri, Ruiz: Yamal, Morata, Williams

France predicted starting XI:
Maignan; Kounde, Saliba, Upamecano, Hernandez; Kante, Tchouameni, Rabiot; Griezmann; Kolo Muani, Mbappe

Spain vs France Odds

Spain are the favourites for this one, priced at 8/5 to win the game in 90 minutes. Meanwhile, France are 41/20 and a draw is 37/20. BTTS can be backed at 57/20 and over 2.5 goals is 33/20.

Spain to win @ 8/5

Even with the suspensions, I think it makes perfect sense to back Spain to win this game well in 90 minutes, and win it well. They’ve been so superior to every other nation at this tournament, and essentially knocked the main challengers Germany out in the last-16.

The confidence they will have taken from that victory will be massive and now they are going to take some stopping. France haven’t looked at it at all at Euro 2024 and although I admit they have tournament experience in these games, I think Spain may just blow them away.

Spain -2 @ 14/1

A massive Spain win is on the cards for me in this one. I think we can take advantage of some generous odds based on what we have seen so far. France have been woeful so far this tournament and I cannot see them scoring. Mbappe has lost his golden touch and Spain can take full advantage.

With Yamal and Williams out wide, the French defence is going to be unlikely to cope, while Morata may hoover up goals in the centre-forward position. I think this will be a landmark game for Spain, and they will hammer France on a famous night in Munich.
