The Betfred YouTube team take a different approach this week, with an in depth discussion about Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and their Legacy in South African Football. They also talk about the DSTV Premiership table.

"Mamelodi Sundowns is killing South African Football, they have all the resources and the rest of the league is not going to keep up" - uTisha WeDiski

DSTV Premiership Challengers

The DSTV Premiership is beyond halfway through the season and there is a lot to talk about from a best of the rest perspective. Mamelodi Sundowns are sitting top of the table with 2 games in hand and a 13 point lead. To say there is not stopping Mamelodi Sundowns is an understatement. They have ran away with the league and may end this season as invincible if the manage to navigate the rest of the season with no defeats to their name. They have out scored everyone, they have conceded the least amount of goals with 5 all season. They are writing history right in-front of our eyes.

The challengers are trying to close the gap, namely Orlando Pirates, Supersports United, Stellenbosch and Cape Town City. These teams occupy the four spots below the Almighty Mamelodi Sundowns. They look promising for the future, with Orlando Pirates going through a period of introducing new talents to the team. Which has been welcomed by their fans. The two cape sides will be looking to maintain their stay at the top of the league as the Western Cape looks to re-establish its share of South African Football. Things have not been the same since Ajax Left Cape Town, and Cape Town Spurs was born, since then Cape Town City and Stellenbosch have challenged the Soweto and Pretoria Giants, and producing amazing talents in the process.

For Supersports United, their fight is with their cross town rivals, who at this point can be accused of building their foundations on the back of Supersports united talents throughout the years. Regardless, of how you might feel about Sundowns poaching Supersport United's talents. Supersports United has continued to maintain their stay in South Africa's top 6 picture. They have made it work with the resource they have at their disposal. They sit level on points with Orlando Pirates in joint second.

DSTV Premiership Relegation Battle

The bottom of the Table is a mix of bad form on the pitch, off the pitch politics making it into the dressing room and instability in the dugout creating a fertile breeding ground for misfortune. Cape Town Spurs, a team who are on the road to rediscovery, sit at the foot of the table behind Kwa-Zulu Natal's Richards Bay FC, Soweto's Dube Birds (Swallows) and the Eastern Cape's Chippa United. Swallows sit 7 points clear of the drop zone while Chippa united sit 8 points clear. This battle is far from over, with both these teams hold a major stake in the other survival, things might change, you may see shifts in and around the table before this season comes to an end.
