Czechia vs Turkiye Prediction: Turkiye can make last 16
Turkiye know that a win or a draw in their final group game against Czechia will be enough to see them into the last 16 of Euro 2024. Portugal have already won Group F, but there is still plenty to play for as these two teams and Georgia all have a chance of qualification.
Below you can find my Czechia vs Turkiye prediction, as the group stages of Euro 2024 come to a close. Read more below for team news and betting tips for this Group F clash.
Team News
All eyes for Czechia will be on Patrick Schick, as the forward is a serious doubt for Wednesday’s crucial game. He scored an equaliser against Georgia to rescue a draw but was taken off with a calf issue and seen with ice on the problem area on the bench. Mojmir Chytil will likely start in his place as Ivan Hasek has to go all-out for the win.
Meanwhile, Vincenzo Montella could welcome back Mert Gunok after his goalkeeper missed the defeat to Portugal. Given Altay Bayindir failed to impress, I’d expect him to come straight back into the team if he is fit. Abdulkerim Bardakci will miss this game having been booked twice, with Merih Demiral his likely replacement, while Arda Guler should start after suffering from a slight groin issue.
Czech Republic predicted starting XI:
Stanek; Holes, Hranac, Krejci; Coufal, Soucek, Provod, Doudera; Barak, Hlozek; Chytil
Turkey predicted starting XI:
Bayindir; Muldur, Demiral, Ayhan, Kadioglu; Yuksek, Calhanoglu; Akturkoglu, Guler, Yildiz; Yilmaz
Czechia are priced at 31/20 to win this game, while Turkiye are available at a price of 9/5. A draw can be backed at 23/10, over 2.5 goals is 22/25 and BTTS is 69/100.
Turkiye to win @ 9/5
Turkiye were well-beaten by Portugal last time out, but that was to be expected. They started that game with their second-choice keeper in goal, and with Guler who only came off the bench late on. I don’t think they were anywhere near their best, even if they were facing a side who I fancy to go all the way in Germany this summer.
They were impressive against Georgia in that 3-1 win and I expect them to return to the free-flowing attacking football we saw. Against weaker opposition and with their key injured players returning, I think they should be able to overcome Czechia and book their place in the last 16.
Arda Guler to score anytime @ 11/4
Guler was terrific in the win over Georgia, and the Real Madrid winger scored a wonderful goal to send Turkiye on their way. However, he suffered from a slight muscle problem in training and was therefore left on the bench until late on against Portugal. That game wasn’t suited to him at all, but I expect to see him back to his flying best against Czechia.
We are likely to see a vibrant attacking display from Turkiye here as they chase automatic qualification, and an easier round of 16 opponent. Given Guler came off the bench in a game where he wouldn’t have been risked if his injury was serious, I think the wide man will play a massive part, and am happy to back him to get on the scoresheet here.
