England are the current favourites to win Euro 2024 and have named his 33-man training squad, manager Gareth Southgate has a few big decisions to make to narrow it down to the final 26. It’s expected a lot of the untried youngsters such as Jarrel Quansah and James Trafford will miss out, but two friendlies against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iceland will help determine that final squad.

First up at Wembley on Monday night (20:00 BST), comes a test against Bosnia-Herzegovina for England. The Three Lions will hope for a couple of confidence-boosting wins before they travel to Germany for Euro 2024. Below you can find my England vs Bosnia-Herzegovina predictions.

England vs Bosnia-Herzegovina Betting Tips

  • England to win and BTTS @ 21/11
  • England -2.5 handicap @ 26/23

Team News

Southgate could go one of two ways with this fixture. Either he chooses to name his strongest XI possible and get some minutes into those lacking fitness, or he looks at some of the fringe players he has included in the squad. One thing is for sure, we will see some sort of trial at left-back.

Luke Shaw is still out injured and racing to be fit for Euro 2024, while Kieran Trippier is being monitored after Newcastle’s strange post-season tour of Australia. Joe Gomez is probably the next option, or perhaps Trent Alexander-Arnold could fill in on the opposite flank. Jarrad Branthwaite may start in place of Harry Maguire, while Cole Palmer, Kobbie Mainoo and Jack Grealish could be given a chance to prove themselves.

For Bosnia-Herzegovina, former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko is still involved and should play, as his nation’s leading goalscorer. Sheffield United’s centre-back Anel Ahmedhodžić will also be involved while former Arsenal man Sead Kolašinac is set to start on the left-hand side of defence.

England vs Bosnia-Herzegovina Match Odds

England are the massive favourites for this game, priced at 13/100 to win. Meanwhile, Bosnia-Herzegovina are 15/1 to win the game, and a draw can be backed at 32/5. BTTS is 4/3 while over 2.5 goals is 9/10.

England to win and BTTS @ 21/11

With England such heavy favourites to win this one, we have to look elsewhere to find some value. I think the home side will win this game in some style, however I think we can take advantage of their unsettled defence to boost our odds. Bosnia-Herzegovina have lost their last three games, but they have also scored in each of those fixtures.

They’ve clearly got some attacking quality in their ranks, and given England are going to be trying out a couple of new defenders in this game, we could see Bosnia-Herzegovina find the net at some point. I’m still not convinced by the Three Lions’ left-back situation, while almost all of the centre-backs are carrying some sort of injury.

England’s attacking quality should see them through, but I think the away side will find the net at some point.

England -2.5 handicap @ 26/23

Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka should all play key parts for England this summer, and with a wealth of attacking talent, I’m expecting big things - and a lot of goals.

They should be able to score plenty of goals against a Bosnia-Herzegovina team who lost 5-0 to Portugal in qualifying. Although I’m expecting goals at both ends, England should be able to score at will at Wembley.
