Lyon vs PSG Prediction: Mbappe may not get his perfect ending
The Coupe de France final will be played on Saturday night between Lyon and PSG as the club from the capital target a league and cup double. In what will be Kylian Mbappe’s final game for PSG before his probable move to Real Madrid, he will want to finish on a high and lift more silverware.
The Champions League may have eluded them of late, and they also haven’t won the French Cup in the past two seasons, a run they will want to end here. Lyon are dangerous opponents however, and below you can find my Lyon vs PSG prediction.
Team News
Lyon come into this game with no injuries or suspensions, which will be a huge boost to Pierre Sage. Meanwhile, PSG are without Lucas Hernandez, who recently underwent ACL surgery. Ousmane Dembele and Kylian Mbappe will both surely start here for Luis Enrique, who has taken the brave decision of ‘resting’ both of them in recent weeks. I expect he will go full strength here.
Lyon are priced at 4/1 to win this game in 90 minutes, while PSG are priced at 14/25. A draw can can backed at 31/10, over 2.5 goals is 61/100 and BTTS is 17/25.
Lyon to win the final @ 47/20
PSG in my eyes have been wildly overrated for this final, and their short odds means that it is not worth backing them, even though they are clear favourites. Instead I think we can find value by taking a different route, and backing Lyon to win this final. They were beaten 4-1 by PSG away from home just a few weeks ago, but there’s no doubt that Sage has turned them into one of the best teams in Ligue 1.
Their shocking start to the season meant they could only claim a sixth-place finish in Ligue 1, but Sage has now won 19 of his 27 matches since he came to the club. Lyon have won seven of their last eight games heading into this one, and with PSG hardly inspiring towards the end of this season, I think we could see a shock.
Alexandre Lacazette to score anytime @ 2/1
We’re getting good value on Lyon’s captain to score here, based on the fact that PSG are such heavy favourites. The former Arsenal man finished the season with nine goals in his last ten games and he also bagged a brace on the final day, ending with 19 league goals for the campaign.
He only played 68 minutes when these two teams met a few weeks ago, and missed the reverse fixture completely, so he will offer PSG a different threat to deal with. As Lyon’s first-choice penalty taker, I think we could see a goal from Lacazette in this French Cup final.
