France vs Poland Prediction: French expected to top the group
France have only registered one goal so far in Euro 2024, and that was an own goal that secured all three points against Austria in their opening match. That is something they will look to correct as they take on a Poland team that are by far the weakest in Group D.
Poland have lost their two matches so far and will need to beat the 2018 world champions to give themselves a fighting chance of making it out of the group. It’s a big ask, and below you can find my France vs Poland prediction, featuring team news and betting tips.
France vs Poland Betting Tips
Team News
All eyes are on Kylian Mbappe for this one, as Didier Deschamps must decide whether the French forward is fit enough to return to the starting XI. He watched from the bench as France failed to impress against the Dutch, but has been seen in training wearing a protective face mask so could be involved. Meanwhile, Adrien Rabiot and Auerlien Tchouameni now look to be competing for the deep-lying midfield spot next to N’Golo Kante.
Meanwhile, Bartosz Salamon could miss this one for Poland through injury while Robert Lewandowski is also now certain to start given this is likely to be his last appearance at a major tournament.
France possible starting lineup: Maignan; Kounde, Saliba, Upamecano, Hernandez; Kante, Rabiot; Dembele, Griezmann, Thuram; Mbappe
Poland possible starting lineup: Szczesny; Bednarek, Dawidowicz, Kiwior; Frankowski, Zielinski, Slisz, Moder, Zalewski; Swiderski, Lewandowski
France are priced at 3/10, and Poland are the outsiders at 43/5. Meanwhile, a draw can be backed at 23/5, BTTS is 53/50 and over 2.5 goals is 61/100.
France to win to nil @ 53/50
France still need to win this game to secure top spot, and with Mbappe set to come back into the team, I think we will see another strong French performance. Poland are far weaker than both the Netherlands and Austria so I’m not expecting them to cause any problems for Deschamps.
I’ve actually been far more impressed with France from a defensive point of view than going forward this summer. They’ve kept two clean sheets in a row against two very good sides and they shouldn’t have any trouble keeping Poland out. With Dayot Upamecano and William Saliba, they should go far with their strong back line.
Antoine Griezmann to score anytime @ 31/20
France have lacked goals so far, but I expect that to change as they take on a poor Poland side. They should dominate this one, and I think they will get plenty of goals, so I’m happy to pick out Griezmann as an anytime goalscorer.
The odds on Mbappe are far too short given we aren’t even sure if he will play, while Griezmann is a guaranteed starter in the number 10 role and should thrive here. No matter who plays in the front three, he should be able to find some space and get some efforts out on goal.
