Georgia vs Czech Republic Prediction: 10/1 for Group F stalemate
Georgia were involved in one of the greatest European Championship matches we have seen in recent times as they lost their opening match 3-1 to Turkey in Group F. Now they take on the Czech Republic, who were devastatingly beaten by Portugal in added time after taking the lead in the second half.
Both pointless at this current moment in time, both of these nations are desperate for points to keep their qualification hopes alive. Below you can find my Georgia vs Czech Republic prediction, featuring betting tips and team news.
Team News
After a thrilling display from Georgia we can expect manager Willy Sagnol to name the same XI, even if he may slightly tweak his 5-3-2 system. Early on in that game against Turkey, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia pulled to the left hand side to make it a 5-4-1, whereas against the Czech Republic, I believe he will be used in a more central role.
Ivan Hasek may also choose to name an unchanged team as his side were impressive from a defensive point of view against Portugal. They almost held out for a point, but his players, including West Ham duo Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek, deserve a chance to make an impact in an attacking sense. Patrik Schick was quiet up front and will hope to get on the scoresheet, as he impressed at Euro 2020.
Georgia predicted line-up: Mamardashvili; Kverkvelia, Kashia, Dvali; Kakabadze, Kiteishvili, Kochorashvili, Shengelia, Chakvetadze; Kvaratskhelia, Mikautadze
Czech Republic predicted line-up: Staněk; Holeš, Hranáč, Krejčí; Coufal, Souček, Provod, Barák, David Jurásek; Kuchta, Schick
Georgia vs Czech Republic Odds
Georgia are the outsiders for this one, priced at 4/1 for three points while the Czech Republic are available at 71/100. That gives them an implied win probability of 58%, while a draw can be backed at 14/5, BTTS is 22/25 and over 2.5 goals is 89/100.
Under 2.5 goals @ 22/25
Despite Georgia’s attacking flair against Turkey, I don’t think this game will be an open one. Sagnol likes to set up with a solid back five and work from there, and I don’t think he will want to stray too far away from that set-up. They had to come out and attack Turkey at times due to the goals they conceded - which were two wonder goals from outside the box. In a usual game, those shots don’t fly into the top corner, so I don’t think they defended badly by any means.
Meanwhile, we saw how solid the Czechs were defensively, only coming unstuck late on after intense Portugal pressure. They have a decent defence too, so I don’t believe this game will contain many goals at all. I think the price on under 2.5 goals is excellent, as both teams will know how much is riding on this game.
Correct score 0-0 @ 10/1
This is a huge price in my eyes. Although Schick and Kvaratskhelia are talented attackers, aside from that, I don’t see that much attacking quality across the two teams. Both teams scored in their opening match but there will be a lot more tension riding on this game, as it is basically an elimination game at this stage of the tournament.
If either side loses, they are probably out. They will have lost their first two matches and three points is unlikely to be enough to get out of the group. As a result, I think we will see a far more cautious encounter, with only a few chances at both ends. I think this is the value pick in the Georgia vs Czech Republic market.
