Germany were utterly superb in their first game of Euro 2024, as they got the competition underway with a spectacular 5-1 win over Scotland. Now, the visitors didn’t help themselves with a first-half red card and poor defensive showing, but Germany certainly got their tournament up and running in style.

Next up they face Hungary  in Stuttgart, and will book their place in the last 16 with another three points. Below you can find my Germany vs Hungary prediction from Group A at Euro 2024.

Germany vs Hungary Betting Tips

  • Home win and over 2.5 goals @ 37/50
  • Jamal Musiala to score anytime @ 33/20

Euro 2024 Odds

Team News

I’d expect Germany to name the same team that beat Scotland 5-1, with Ilkay Gundogan starting in the number 10 role behind Kai Havertz, and with Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz out wide. Joshua Kimmich is set to play alongside Robert Andrich again, with Antoinio Rudiger leading the defence. Niclas Fullkrug scored off the bench and will be pushing for a start, but Julian Nagelsmann is likely to stick with a winning team.

Meanwhile Hungary are still without Callum Styles and Loic Nego, while Barnabas Varga is set to continue up front having scored against Switzerland in Matchday one. Hungary will look to break on Germany, so pace is needed although big striker Martin Adam could make an impact from the bench.

Germany vs Hungary Match Odds

Germany are the favourites for this game, priced at 27/100 to win, while Hungary can be backed at 9/1. A draw is available at 5/1, BTTS is 46/43 and over 2.5 goals is 57/100.

Home win and over 2.5 goals @ 37/50

Germany can win this one, and win it in style. They were so superior to Scotland in the first game it was ridiculous, while Hungary failed to impress against Switzerland in their 3-1 defeat, especially in that first half. With the likes of Musiala and Wirtz, the hosts should be able to tear apart Hungary at will, and score plenty of goals.

Meanwhile, Kai Havertz is a great player to knit things together, while Fullkrug proved how threatening he can be as a clinical number nine off the bench. The Germans should have too much quality here, and be able to blow Hungary away. I think this will be a one-sided clash, and the host nation should progress to the last 16 in style.

Jamal Musiala to score anytime @ 33/20

The key man for Germany in my eyes. They’ve got a lot of attacking talent, but none of them are quite like Musiala. He was mesmerising in that opening game and also impressed me in front of goal, as he smashed a Havertz cut-back into the roof of the net. He should create plenty of chances, while I’m also backing him to get on the end of one, and score himself.

Hungary didn’t convince me at all defensively against Switzerland, so they could find life tough in this one. I’m backing the 21-year-old to score his second goal of Euro 2024 in Stuttgart.
