Man City vs West Ham Prediction: Will City be crowned champions again?
It just feels inevitable doesn’t it? Manchester City are on track to win another Premier League title, and now just need one more win to get the job done. It will be a record-breaking title as well. In the history of English football, no side - not even Manchester United - have ever won four on the bounce.
They host West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium, where a party atmosphere awaits. They have made life difficult for themselves against QPR and Aston Villa on the final day before, but will the same happen this Sunday? Below you can find my Man City vs West Ham prediction.
Team News
Manchester City may be without goalkeeper Ederson after he was substituted in midweek having taken a nasty blow to the head. He didn’t want to come off, but given he did, Stefan Ortega is likely to start in goal. He made a fantastic save against Son Heung-Min in that game, a save that may have just won Man City the title. Kevin De Bruyne also came off with a serious looking injury that could keep him out.
Meanwhile, West Ham are without Dinos Mavropanos and Nayef Aguerd, while Kalvin Phillips is unable to play against his parent club. David Moyes will take charge of his last game in charge of the Hammers, and is looking to bow out with a positive result.
Man City vs West Ham Match Odds
As you would expect, Man City are the heavy favourites here. They are just 1/10 for the win, with West Ham priced at 20/1. If you want to back a draw, you can do so at 9/1, while BTTS is 47/50 and over 2.5 goals is 11/50.
Phil Foden anytime @ 9/10
Given there is no value in backing a City win, I think we can pick out a correct goalscorer. Foden has enjoyed the best goalscoring season of his career, hitting 17 Premier League goals, and he also found the net at Craven Cottage last weekend. With De Bruyne likely to be absent, and West Ham likely to sit deep, the goalscoring responsibility could fall to the Englishman.
His clever trickery outside the box and long-range shooting could lead to several goal attempts and I think Foden has shown he is an excellent finisher this term. This should be a party for Manchester City as they look to collect another title, and I cannot see anything other than a comfortable home win for the Citizens.
Correct score: 3-0 @ 29/5
In the search for value, I have ventured into the correct score market. City are likely to win this game to nil, and they are far superior to West Ham. Even though the away side will hope to make things difficult in Moyes’ final game, I can’t see them keeping City at bay.
However, I also don’t think they will be beaten by four, five or six goals. The home side only need to win to get the job done, and if they go two or three goals up, they aren’t going to have the hunger to push for more goals. I think the party will start in the stands at 3-0, and the players can begin to think of how they are going to celebrate a fourth title in a row.
