Newcastle host Spurs on Sunday afternoon with both teams looking to continue their unbeaten start to the new campaign. Newcastle made it through to the next round of the Carabao Cup with a victory on penalties over Nottingham Forest in midweek, while Spurs have four points from their two outings so far.

Below you can find my Newcastle vs Spurs prediction, featuring betting tips and team news.

Newcastle vs Spurs Betting Tips

  • Spurs to win @ 3/2
  • Heung-min Son to score @ 37/27

Team News

Joe Willock has received a positive result following a scan, but will not be available this weekend for Newcastle. Meanwhile, Sandro Tonali is back in contention following his lengthy suspension, and could play in his first Premier League match in 10 months.

Rodrigo Bentancur is fit to play in this Newcastle clash, despite being stretched off against Leicester in the season opener. He missed the win over Everton but will return at St James’ Park, while Dominic Solanke is not ready to return yet after his injury. Richarlison was also injured in training this week and will not play this weekend.

Newcastle vs Spurs Odds

Newcastle are priced at 3/2 to win this game, with Spurs available at the same price. A draw is 3/1, over 2.5 goals is 37/100 and BTTS is 9/25.

Spurs to win @ 3/2

I don’t think Newcastle have been at their best this season, while I believe Spurs are a good outfit right now. Ange Postecoglou’s men have looked strong in their opening two games, and even though they dropped points at Leicester, they looked very good in their win over Everton. In both games they have been the superior team, while something doesn’t seem quite right at Newcastle.

I’m happy to back the away side to come away with three points in this one, and believe the likes of James Maddison and Heung-min Son will have enough to take Newcastle apart. Away win for me.

Heung-min Son to score @ 37/27

I’ll back Tottenham’s most threatening goalscorer to find the net at St James Park. He has got two in two already this term and has looked so sharp in the Premier League in 2024/25. I’m also not sure about Newcastle’s defence right now, and with Tottenham putting Everton to the sword, I’m happy to back them to score a few in this one.

If they do, I think Sonny will certainly be one of the scorers.
