Spain vs Germany Prediction: Can host nation down thrilling Spain side?
We’ve got a pulsating set of quarter-finals coming our way on Friday, starting with Spain vs Germany in Stuttgart. It is set to be an absolutely cracking tie, between arguably the two best teams we have seen at Euro 2024 so far. With the likes of Lamine Yamal and Jamal Musiala both on show, we should see be in for a thrilling night of football.
Below you can find my Spain vs Germany prediction, as two European giants collide.
Team News
Spain clearly have found their preferred XI in this tournament, and Luis de la Fuente is set to name the same XI as he did in that thumping win over Georgia. Lamine Yamal, Alvaro Morata and Nico Williams make up a threatening front three, while Rodri, Pedri and Fabian Ruiz are arguably the best midfield trio in the tournament. Robin Le Normand is set to continue at the heart of defence despite his own goal against Georgia, with Unai Simon retaining his place in goal.
Just like Spain, Germany know their best XI and are unlikely to stray too far away from the team that has served them well. Kai Havertz will start up front despite calls for Niclas Fullkrug to start, while Florian Wirtz is also likely to come back into the team, after Leroy Sane started ahead of him vs Denmark. Jonathan Tah should return from suspension to partner Antonio Rudiger.
Spain Predicted XI: Simón; Carvajal, Le Normand, Laporte, Cucurella; Fabián Ruiz, Rodri, Pedri: Lamine Yamal, Morata, Williams
Germany Predicted XI: Neuer; Kimmich, Rüdiger, Tah, Raum; Andrich, Kroos; Musiala, Gündoğan, Wirtz; Havertz
Spain are priced at 33/20 to win this game, with Germany available at 7/4 to win this one in 90 mins. Meanwhile, a draw can be backed at 9/4, over 2.5 goals is 1/1, and BTTS is 39/50.
BTTS and Draw @ 59/20
This should be a cracking encounter between two attacking teams. The quality on show is quite frankly, frightening and I’m not expecting anything less than an end-to-end match, full of goals. Both teams should be able to find the net. With Williams and Yamal, Spain boast two direct wingers who will constantly run at the Germany back line. But, Spain have some questions to answer from a defensive standpoint, as do the hosts.
Rudiger and Tah are a solid central duo, but the full backs could find life tough against two tricky wingers. Having said that, Musiala and Wirtz will be licking their lips at the prospect of getting at this Spain back line. I can’t split them in 90 minutes, but I believe both sides will find the net. We should be in for a thriller.
Nico Williams anytime goalscorer @ 21/5
He’s been a fantastic outlet so far for Spain, but seemed to take his game up a level against Georgia. On the counter-attack, something I believe will be crucial in this one, I think Williams will get a load of space to run into. With Germany likely to push players up the pitch throughout the match, I think Williams will be the key attacker for Spain.
I’m happy to back him to find the net in 90 minutes, with Yamal and Morata likely to be the supporting act in this one. I fancy Spain to squeeze through in extra-time, and think Williams will score at some point.
