We are midway through the DSTV Premiership Season and one thing is for sure; nobody is catching Mamelodi Sundowns. 11 games played, 0 defeats and only 2 draws they are running away with the league title and might finish this season as invincibles.

Here are markets to consider adding to your bet slip...

DSTV Premiership Outright Betting

  • Premier Soccer League – Winner Mamelodi Sundowns 3/100
  • Premier Soccer League – Winner Supersports United 33/1
  • Premier Soccer League – Winner Cape Town City FC 50/1
  • Premier Soccer League – Winner Orlando Pirates 149/1

Premier Soccer League – Winner Mamelodi Sundowns 3/100

Mamelodi Sundowns have been in a league of their own this season with no team domestically taking points from the Pretoria Giants. The team has not only made its mark on South African football this season, but they have also been outstanding in the continent. They have won the African Football League by beating Wydad Casablanca 4-2 on aggregate.

Sundowns have a jam-packed schedule awaiting them in 2024. They are still active in several cup competitions including the Nedbank Cup and the CAF Champions League. As formidable as they have been in recent seasons, they have not been flawless away from South African Borders. Losing to TP Mazembe, and Wydad Casablanca.

Domestically, Orlando Pirates got the better of Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 final on the 7th of October 2023, but they lost to Sundowns away from home in the league. At this point, the conversation that is being had around Mzansi is who will finish second, rather than who will win the league?

Premier Soccer League – Winner Supersports United 33/1

If there was to be a drastic drop in form for Mamelodi Sundowns, the next best team would be Supersports United according to the bookies. The odds on winning the League are sitting at 33/1 by the time of publishing this article. Mamelodi’s cross-town rivals have been good over the years but have fallen short on numerous occasions. This might be due to losing their best talents to Mamelodi Sundowns over the years. Players like Hlompho Kekana, Dennis Onyango, Anthony Laffor. And in modern times they have lost a whole host of players including players that were shinning at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations Ivory Coast 23. Teboho Mokoena, Grant Kekana, Aubrey Modiba, Sipho Mbule and Star goalkeeper Ronwen Williams all switched the white of SuperSports United for the yellow of Mamelodi Sundowns. What could have happened if Supersports United managed to keep these talents in their books?

Premier Soccer League – Winner Cape Town City FC 50/1

Sitting second in the league and with the league’s second-best defense alongside TS Galaxy and Swallows, a good run of results in the Festive Season has propelled Cape Town City to second on the log table above Supersports United on Goal Difference. It is highly unlikely that Mamelodi Sundowns would have a horrific second half of the season but if they do, the odds-on Cape Town City lifting the trophy are 50/1.

Premier Soccer League – Winner Orlando Pirates 149/1

It would not be the PSL without mentioning one of the Soweto giants. Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs have not been in the title race for a while and odds on either one of them walking away with the PSL trophy at the end of this season are set at 149/1. It would take a miracle, but it is possible. They would have to close a 13-point gap in less than 15 games.
