Sundowns vs Polokwane Prediction: Downs with a score to settle

Less than a month from that surprise loss to Polokwane City. The PSL serves up the reverse fixture and an opportunity for Mamelodi Sundowns to put that loss in the past with a win this Wednesday.

The last time these two teams met, many bet slips were ruined by the result. It is not everyday Mamelodi Sundowns lose by one goal to nil when they were favourites to win. It took a late goal by Bulelani Nikon to hand Polokwane the result. This was after Mamelodi Sundowns dominated possession 71% of the ball. However, they struggled to make anything of that possession, only managing 4 shots at goal. Polokwane were more of a goal threat with 12 shots at goal.

We might have made the mistake of underestimating Polokwane last time these two teams met but this time we need to make sure we give this team the respect they deserve. They are currently sitting third in the league, behind Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

They have been consistent since the start of the season, managing four wins from their first six matches. They unfortunately got knocked out of the MTN8 by Mamelodi Sundowns and they later got knocked out of the Carling Knock out by Marumo Gallants. They might not be a cup side but they are doing well in the league.

This will be their third meeting this season with both teams having a win each. However, at home, Sundowns has not lost to Polokwane City since August of 2017. Sundowns are also in amazing goal scoring form. They have scored 7 goals in their last two matches. That is why I am backing the Pretoria side to get their revenge in spectacular style.
