Supersport United's Pre-season

Team News

A team that has not been in the spot light this transfer window is Supersport united. They have not been rocked by systemic changes like the Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns. The team from Pretoria still have Gavin Hunt at the Helm. Although 2023/24 wasn't his best season as a manager. He saw his team let slip a lead in the race for second position in the DSTV Premiership. A seventh place finish, means that he will be eligible to play the MTN 8 next season and more importantly without sundowns coming in for a raid. Gavin Hunt can hold onto his best talent and build on that for next season.

A few players have been released by the club, including Jesse Donn, Siyanda Xulu and Phathutshedzo Nange. Some players have moved on to new clubs like Ricard Goss who has joined Mamelodi Sundowns on loan. The 23 year old Keegan Allen has joined Orlando Pirates, and Thalente Mbatha has also joined the sea robbers. Abdulrazack Hamza has left South African football choosing to join Simba from Tanzania. It hasn't be all departures at Supersport, with Gavin Hunts team going into the market for Pogiso Sanoka of TS Galaxy. An experience centre back who made a name for himself playing for TS Galaxy after leaving Maritzburg United In February of 2021.

This season Gavin hunt will look to create a team that can go the distance against their biggest rivals and compete for a finish in the African Spots. Especially when considering that they came into 2024 leading the table in second and slowly sank down the table due to bad results in the new year. There is a lot of work to be done and Supersport United are Capable.
