The host nation at Euro 2024 have made a perfect start to the competition with two wins from two, and although their place in the last 16 has been secured, they still need a point to guarantee top spot in Group A.

They face Switzerland in Frankfurt on Sunday night looking to keep their perfect record alive in this competition. Meanwhile Murat Yakin’s men have four points on the board which should be enough to see them into the knockout stages, but a win over Germany would give them top spot based on their head-to-head record. Below you can find my Switzerland vs Germany prediction, featuring team news and betting tips.

Germany vs Switzerland Betting Tips

  • Germany to win @ 37/50
  • Niclas Fullkrug to score anytime @ 37/20

Team News

It’s difficult to gauge how many changes both sides will make heading into this one, given they are both pretty much through to the last 16. Germany only need a point to secure top spot so I would expect Julian Nagelsmann to ring the changes, with Niclas Fullkrug, Leroy Sane and Emre Can all likely to start.

Meanwhile Switzerland are likely to give Breel Embolo his first start after two impressive showings from the bench, as he works his way back to full fitness. Burnley’s Zeki Amdouni could also be given a start if Yakin decides to freshen things up.

Switzerland vs Germany Odds

Switzerland are priced at 37/10 to win this game, with Germany available at 18/25. A draw can be backed at 14/5, while over 2.5 goals is 39/50 and BTTS is 77/100.

Germany to win @ 18/25

Despite the potential changes, it’s difficult to see anything other than a comfortable Germany win in this one. They’ve looked so impressive during this tournament so far, scoring seven goals in their opening two matches. Jamal Muisala, Florian Wirtz and Ilkay Gundogan have all been exceptional, while the players on the bench will want to prove themselves if given a chance.

Meanwhile, Switzerland were not at it against Scotland and seemed happy to pick up the point that takes them onto four in total. I just cannot see them truly believing they can top this group, and as a result, I don’t think the intensity will be there for them to win this game. I’m backing a comfortable Germany win.

Niclas Fullkrug to score anytime @ 37/20

The big striker hasn’t yet started for Germany, but I think that could change here. Kai Havertz has been chosen to lead the line by Nagelsmann so far, but Fullkrug made a big impact off the bench against Scotland and is knocking on the door for a starting spot.

His goal against Scotland showed what he was all about as he rifled a half-volley into the top corner, and given his physicality and size, he offers Germany something completely different. He is your typical target man, and he will be well up for the fight here, so I’m expecting the Borussia Dortmund striker to find the net at some stage.
