It feels like a life time since the last time we were able to enjoy some pure, home grown soccer. The season came to an end and since then we have enjoyed the EUROS, Copa America and now the Olympics. With all due respect to those competition, every South African will tell you that, LOCAL IS LEKKER. For those lovers of Mzansi's favourite past time, its back. The 3rd of August will usher in the start of our local soccer season.

Orlando Pirates have played Supersports United 43 times since the year 2009. Sekhukhune United vs Cape Town City
This fixture will be over looked by many a South African soccer fan, especially those traditionally in love with the Soweto Giants and the Capitals finest. I do encourage you to watch this match. These two teams have met six times since the year 2021, with two wins for each side and two draws between them. The last time they met in the DSTV Premiership in April of 2024, it ended in a two all draw. Memories of that encounter are still fresh in the minds of both sets of stakeholders. Who will win this one, I can't tell, but expect goals from the first whistle to the last.

Same Sundowns, different leadership. The conversation lately starts with a huge question mark when you mention Mamelodi Sundowns. It came as a surprise to many, when award winning head coach Mokwena was released from his contract and Mamelodi Sundowns found themselves without a head coach. A lot has changed since that announcement. Some players have left and a new coach staff has walked in, with Steve Kompela being the headline figure tasked with leading this very successful outfit. One question remains to be answered now. Can Mamelodi Sundowns swim without award winning head coach Rulani Mokwena?
